An Introduction to Playwriting : Staged Readings
Two new playwrights, Daniel Allen and Jason Lever, present new writing developed on ACT's Introduction to Playwriting course.
This is a rehearsed reading with professional actors bringing these new scripts to the stage for the first time.
An eclectic evening including two direct address monologues featuring a disenchanted theatre usher and Michelangelo's elderly assistant, Domenico. There are also two play extracts which transport us to two very different worlds - that of Indian soldiers recuperating at the Royal Pavilion during the First World War and of Lola Montez, an Irish dancer and actress who became famous as a Spanish dancer, courtesan, and mistress of King Ludwig I of Bavaria.
