Cinderella & Frankenstein's Monster Are Dead

昭兰 (Zhao Lan)’s classmates call her “Ms. Frankenstein” because she clumsily stitches together fragments of American culture with her Chinese immigrant roots. Things take a turn when the school drama club casts her as Cinderella in the Grimm’s fairytale play, but she is still unhappy. Foreign stories glitch into nightmares. She misses the Mandarin nursery rhyme she once proudly sang. It doesn’t take long for her to realize: both Cinderella and Ms. Frankenstein are dead. She is neither of them.
