Age Positive Stage Acting Workshop Intermediate Level
Tutor: Daniel Finlay
All the world’s a stage and it’s never too late to be a player! Acting is a great way to boost confidence and memory while building connections over shared experiences.
This intermediate term of classes, taught in two 6 week blocks of 2 hour classes, is aimed at students who have already attended some drama classes and have started to use and understand the basic principles of acting and drama. It is a perfect follow on to our Beginners classes.
Students will explore working with text through a range of scripts and developing and applying acting tools and techniques. They will look at how to develop a character and there will be a small ‘show and tell’ in the last week of each term.
Although Block 1 will build on the work done in Block 2 you do not have to have done Block 1 to join Block 2. Students will explore different types of scripts and characters in each block.
Suggested age 50+.

Scene Study Class – Advanced
Scene Study is designed for experienced or professional actors seeking to keep their skills sharp while exploring and developing scene work in-depth.
In this course, you’ll be paired with a scene partner to work on a selected duologue, rehearsing and refining it each week under the guidance of tutor Daniel Finlay. You’ll perform in front of fellow participants, with opportunities to present multiple times in our small, focused group.
This is a hands-on rehearsal process, allowing you to benefit both from Daniel’s direction and from observing the growth of other scenes as they develop.
Before the first session, you and your scene partner will be assigned a pre-class task: choose a 2-3 minute scene you’re eager to explore for the next four weeks. Your choice can be from a play, a film, or even a scene you’ve transcribed from a recent viewing. Scenes must be no longer than 3 minutes (or about 2-3 pages); if they exceed this limit, you’ll need to trim them down to fit our time frame.
Note that this is a script-in-hand workshop; you don’t need to memorize your lines beforehand.
When we’re not working as actors, it’s vital to stay in practice—this class provides just that. Come prepared to improvise, to engage with the text, and to build genuine connections with your scene partner.
The class is capped at 8 participants to ensure everyone gets ample stage time.
