Animal Farm
by George Orwell adapted by Ian Wooldridge
George Orwell’s classic tale of farmyard animals who rise up against their human oppressor, only to fall prey to one of their own, is sadly as relevant today as it was in 1945. It was originally written in response to the Russian Revolution of 1917, which was itself was caused by bad state management of a crisis (WW1) leading to a huge rise in the cost of living and food shortages.
To Britain in 2023, this sounds distressingly familiar.
