Two Halves of Guinness
Two Halves of Guinness
by Mark Burgess.
Two Halves of Guinness takes an entertaining & insightful tour of the life and times of Sir Alec Guinness, from his first meeting with Sir John Gielgud to far away galaxies in Star Wars and back again.
The play begins in the late 1970’s as Star Wars is set to become one of the biggest films of all time featuring Guinness’ iconic performance as Obi-Wan Kenobi. Amidst fears he will be remembered only as a Jedi Knight, Sir Alec reflects on his life and career - both up to, and then beyond, Star Wars. The golden days of British film and theatre, of which Guinness was so vital a part, form the backdrop to the action.
Two Halves of Guinness was premiered in Brighton in 2010 & has since been performed at numerous venues across the UK.
